Rupert Betheras

b. 1975, Melbourne, Australia. Lives and works in Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Narrm/Melbourne, Australia.

Rupert Betheras first developed an interest in painting as a teenager in 80’s Melbourne. In 2006, he embarked on a full-time art practice influenced by abstract expressionism, action painting, guerrilla street art, installation and sculpture. He has held solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Alice Springs, Darwin and Paris including a survey exhibition at Deakin University Art Gallery. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions. A founding member of the Tennant Creek Brio, Betheras also acts as a facilitator and co-artist with the Brio collective.
